Panic! at the Disco - Viva Las Vengeance

Viva Las Vengeance is so close to being great but it can't seem to decide what it wants to be. It is a well enough written pop rock song. Though it doesn't really seem to go anywhere interesting it still got a bop out of me. My main gripe is the recording and production, the whole album is apparently recorded live to tape which I really respect but it has no impact here. It feels caught in no mans land between a live band rocking and out and ultra produced synthesized sound like we have heard in recent records. I love a lot of the different Panic sounds but for me this single just tries to cut the line between eras too thin, it doesn't know what it wants to be so it just ends up being nothing.

Muse - Will Of The People

Will Of The People is perhaps one of the most disapointing Muse songs I have ever heard. It interpolates 'The Beautiful People' by Marilyn Manson combining the simple but catchy hook with blunt force political messaging with no effort beyond 'The will of the people'. It aims to be an anthem for a politcal revolution but completely fails at saying anything to really get behind.

Logic - Bleed It

Logic is on a tear in 2022 with a range of solid singles that might be the best work we have heard from the retired not retired rapper...ever. Bleed It is a hard hitting, old school east coast boom bap track with intense lyrics about growing up in government housing surounded by abuse and what his life could have been. Talking about in another life being a killer or criminal as that is what is expected for someone with his upbringing. Strong recommend for a heavy 2 and half minutes of classic east coast rap with some rage against the machine vibes sprinkled on top.
